Rectangular beam bending calculator to EN 1992-1-1 (UK NA)

Inputs

How it works

The calculator finds the tension steel for a singly reinforced rectangular section, using the simplified rectangular stress block with the UK National Annex value of 0.85 for the coefficient on concrete strength.

K=MEdbd2fckK = \frac{M_{\mathrm{Ed}}}{b d^2 f_{\mathrm{ck}}} z=d2[1+1−3.53K]≤0.95dz = \frac{d}{2}\left[1 + \sqrt{1 - 3.53K}\right] \le 0.95d As,req=MEdfyd zA_{\mathrm{s,req}} = \frac{M_{\mathrm{Ed}}}{f_{\mathrm{yd}}\, z}

Limits

Concrete strength up to C50/60. Where K exceeds 0.168 the section needs compression steel, which this calculator flags but does not design.

Results are for checking by a competent engineer. See the terms of use.
